  • Treatment of gum ulcers and sore mouths
  • Bad breath treatment
  • Treatment of tooth grinding and clenching
WHAT IS PERIODONTAL DISEASE?
Periodontal disease is basically an infection that eats away the bone around your teeth. Periodontal means “around the tooth,” which of course includes the gums and bone supporting your teeth. Periodontal disease can occur in many forms. It can begin with gingivitis, an inflammation, redness, and tenderness of the gums. Usually this is caused by a buildup of plaque (germs) and tartar at the gumline. The toxins, acids, and poisons produced by the germs eventually causes the gum to detach from the tooth, destroys the bone around your teeth, and creates a deep gum pocket next to the tooth. This is called periodontitis. As the periodontitis advances, the germ’s poisons and toxins enter the tooth root; and tartar begins to build on the root surface like barnacles on the side of a ship. Your body hates this infection and begins to treat your tooth like an untreated splinter in your hand. Just like around a splinter, the gum tissue begins to fester, the tooth loosens, and eventually is rejected by your body. Periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in Americans.
